Original site content
Original website photographs, catalogue descriptions, research texts, editorial material, and other creative content made by Ten Bells Auction House are protected by copyright or related rights where the requirements of applicable law are met. Copyright does not arise merely because a protection badge is displayed.
Historical works and the public domain
We deal in rare books, historical photographs, manuscripts, archives and ephemera. Owning a physical historical object does not necessarily mean owning copyright in the underlying work. Some historical materials are in the public domain; others may be covered by third-party copyrights or related rights. We do not claim exclusive copyright in underlying public-domain works.
Catalogue photography and research
Where rights subsist in our original catalogue photography, research writing, documentation or photographic presentation, commercial copying or republication may require written permission. This does not restrict lawful use of public-domain works or material belonging to other rights holders. Third-party credits, licence conditions and moral rights should be respected.
Reuse, automated extraction and AI training
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Ten Bells Auction House reserves its rights in its original photographs, catalogue descriptions, research writing and other original site content against unauthorised copying, automated extraction, text-and-data mining and use to train artificial-intelligence systems. This notice does not claim exclusive rights in public-domain works or third-party material, and does not restrict uses permitted by law or the relevant rights holder.
Rights in physical objects
Unless a separate agreement says otherwise, acquiring an antique book, photograph, manuscript or other physical item does not transfer copyright, publication rights or image rights attached to the work.
Permissions, licensing and corrections
If you wish to reproduce protected materials for a publication, exhibition or commercial project, or if you believe an image or credit on the site infringes your rights, write to enquire@thetenbellshouse.com. We review substantiated requests and can correct credit, restrict use or remove material where appropriate.
